The bolt that holds in the retainer for the trim sender on a bravo 1. It looks tough to access with the drive on. To avoid removing the drive what tools do you use to remove the bolt? 11mm swivel on an extension is what i am assuming. Im going to buy a 11mm swivel this week unless someone does it a different way?

If you are talking about the bolt that goes through the retainer through the transom, the drive should be off. As least on an alpha drive they are hard to get to. Just did mine, much easier with the bellow off to. I heated a thin 12 point end wrench, bent it at an angle I was happy with and got the top bolt out. The alpha has 2 bolts, the lower was acesable with a 1\4" socket. Been awhile since I've done a bravo. I think they have one bolt to get out. Putting the bolt back in is a challenge,I lightly tape the bolt to an open wrench, set it in then maneuver my fingers in there to get it started.

Are we talking about the hinge pin that is behind the trim sender? The sender itself is 2 screws . . . The hinge pin is a special tool. As stated outdrive off.

Sorry. There appears to be a single bolt that holds the retainer plate in to keep the wires from coming out. It looks like i can access it with an extension and a swivel socket but i dont know what size it is.

Oh, got it . . . the trim sender wires . . .

I have replaced the senders/wires without removing the bell housing, but it is better to remove the outdrive. If you want to try it with the outdrive on . . . 1/4" socket with 2 6" extensions and a u-joint adapter. 7/16" socket as stated.

You would have to get the outdrive in the full down position and hope to get enough clearance at the top of the bell housing to get the tool in there and then attach the socket and u-joint once you sneak the tool through. That is why it is easier to have the outdrive off, as you can get better downward movement of the bell housing.

Even so, it is not an easy task.. . you might have to disconnect the trim cylinders in order to get the outdrive to pivot downward enough to create some clearance at the top of the bell housing.
