Re: how do I replace and set points on 69 jrude 9.5
Sure, promise to pick up a manual though.

You're going to need a couple slightly obscure tools for the task. One is a torque wrench (ft/lb reading for this job) and a flywheel puller. A cheap and easily found subsitute for the flywheel puller is a 'harmonic balancer puller' from an auto tool supply. You'll need 3 1/4"-20tpi Grade 5 or better bolts 3 or 4" long to go with it. A hammer does not replace the proper puller.

Remove the flywheel nut. Install the puller to act on the three bolt holes in the flywheel. Torque up the puller and pop the flywheel off. Remove the points, install new ones, grease the cam or install a fresh wick, set up the points to open .020" maximum.
Now at this point, have a look at your ignition coils. Any cracks? If so, don't expect sparks to return.
Put the flywheel back on, finger tight the nut and with the plugs out giver a spark test. Good spark then torque the flywheel nut to 43ft/lbs.
9 times out of ten the coils are bad. The older and some of the newer ones had faults where the insulation would crack with age letting moisture in and sparks out. Good thing is it's easy enough to diagnose since you can see them. Better than blindly replacing parts.
The condensors (also under there) rarely fail. Swap them while your at it and if the dead cylinder changes with them, you know one is bad.

If you don't want to buy a manual, you can often borrow one from your local library.
