I’ve been thinking of buying this boat for a few weeks, however it has been sitting for a while. The 88hp Johnson on the back ran when it was parked, but they don’t know if it does now. How would I go about getting the engine started?

:welcome: to iBoats . . .

Not sure how long a 'while' is, but . . .

Bring some fogging oil . . .
Battery Charger or a fresh battery (and a charger)
Fresh fuel mix (I assume it is a 2 cycle :noidea: )
Ear muffs for the water

I'd go with a squirt of oil in the cylinders and some through the carburetor See if you can get the engine to spin with the starter with the spark plugs out. If all looks good, put the plugs in an see if it will start up.

A compression test is a MUST do on that style of motor.----Do it as is before handing over any cash.-----If you can rebuild that motor yourself than it is not as much risk.----Install a new impeller before taking the wife and kids out on the lake.
