Hi, I'm new here. Spent much of a day looking around the forum here a month or so ago and learned alot about the 9.5hp Evinrude outboard I bought a couple of months ago. Now winter is coming on & I would like to get the motor winterized. Its a Model 9922S if that helps as I'm sure all outboards all winterized the same way. I'm a mechanic by trade. Been twisting wrenches on everything from Mowers to Semi Trucks & Trailers and everything in between but outboards. Any and all help would be awesome. Thanks.

This term fogging its all new to me. Usually I empty the carbs and spray WD 40 on cylinders but fogging looks like a best solution. And welcome to the group, im new to!

pull the fuel line, run it out of fuel and stand it up, then change gear oil = winterized

That is what I do expect I spray fogging oil in the carb as it is running out of fuel.. You can hear the motor rev up is running dry.. If it is just for a the winter the fogging oil is probably not needed but I do it anyways.

Thanks to everyone so far on this matter. So any water in the water pump areas or places where water passes thru pretty well drains off on it's own? This was one of my biggest concerns.

If the drains are clear and the motor is stored up right the water should drain out. You could also pull it over a few times without starting to get any water out of the pump.
