I have a 1985 85 HP Bayliner Capri with a Force. I bought a seloc manual for it and have been rewiring the whole thing. In the manual it shows 3 red wires that go to the two prongs of the circuit breaker. One red wire comes from the rectifier, another from the terminal block mounted on the motor, and the other red wire comes from the starter relay. One prong on the circuit breaker says BAT and the other one says AUX. Can someone help me figure out which of these three red wires goes on which of the two prongs. Looks like two of them go to one prong and the other one goes to the other prong.

Re: How do I wire my circuit breaker?

One red wire comes from the battery side of the starter solenoid to the bottom of the circuit breaker "bat". This supplies power from the battery to engine electrical systems when the alternator is turning too slow to supply power (starting, for example). The circuit breaker protects engine wiring by keeping the battery from discharging through the system and melting all the wiring if a short circuit develops.

One red wire comes down from the rectifier to the "aux" terminal. This recharges the battery when the engine is running. A second red wire connects to the "aux" terminal and to the red terminal on the engine terminal board. This supplies power from the alternator to the engine electrical systems while the engine is running. The red wire in the cable connects between this terminal and the "bat" terminal on the ignition switch. This supplies power through the "I" terminal on the switch to gauges.
