How do these carbs look?

I'm finally getting back to rebuilding this '90 150 and was sure I was going to rebuild the carbs but after opening them up they look spotless. I think the previous owner must have had them done not long ago.

Now I'm thinking of just cleaning them with carb cleaner and not doing a rebuild, pictures below.

I think the bowls may be warped.

They seem a bit concave, if I put them on perfectly flat surface I can see a bit of a gap. Is this a common issue with these plastic bowls? Is this a must replace or can the gasket account for the imperfection.

Also, were you just guessing or did it show on the gaskets?

Here is how the worst one looks, this gap is not normal right?

Now I see the superseded part is aluminium. Looks like I'll be using some kind of a sealer, maybe three bond case sealer, because no way this rebuild has the budget to replace those with aluminum parts at $130+ a piece.

Looks like sanding flat is also an option, I've done that with aluminum heads so that might be worth a try.

I wonder if this warpage caused the piston rubbing damage from running lean.

I just replaced all four of my float chamber bowls as they were all warped. Those four (OEM) and four carb rebuild kits (also OEM) cost me right around $200 total shipped from eBay.

As others have noted, you can try sanding them back to flat on a smooth piece of glass or other very flat surface with fine grit paper. I've done that in a pinch with a single bowl. You may find them tough to reseal even after that. Good luck and report back!
