Re: How do "you" bottom paint?
Since you have sanded the gelcoat, I recommend you apply an epoxy barrier coat, before the bottom paint. it will stop any blisters from forming. I used a pettit product since it took less coats (only 3) to reach the desired thickness, and it was on the discount rack as WestMarine. The drying time is based on temperature, so plan your recoat schedule accordingly. Apply the first coat of ablative bottom paint at the same scheduled time that you would have applied the forth coat of the epoxy paint. Now add a second coat of ablative bottom paint at your leasure. This plan will allow you to get multiple seasons out of the bottom paint and recoat when the paint has worn off, thus avoiding the dreaded A-F paint build-up.
