How do you quote only parts of a persons text, not the whole reply?

I'm messing around with the "quote" button, but can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks.

First click the quote button then delete the text that you don't want to show.

Anything you put between [ quote ] and [ /quote] will show up as quoted text. (remove the space after the [ and before the ])

hmmm, you have to hit quote and delete the rest? You can type in
it seems.

What is the " tab button beside the quote tab for?

The preview doesn't show this so one can't tell if they got it right until its posted.

You don't have to hit quote, it's just easier if you want to quote a large amount of text without copy/pasting or typing it out.

That second button is to place multiple quotes. I don't ever use it.
