How do you remove the throttle control box on a 92 4winns with an OMC cobra OD?
I'm replacing the shift cable and thought that I would grease the control lever (throttle lever).

I removed the set screw with the throttle in full reverse but the throttle lever still does not want to come off?

What am I missing? Should I even do this? I'd like to have it shift as easy as possible.

Hey , there is most likely a screw in the center of the shifter is where the round button is. find the manufacturer who made it and find a diagram online. I had some problems getting mine off as well and thought there were more screws I could not find but after soaking it in wD 40 over night it popped right off with a little twist and pull. Mine is an old Teleflex .
You could see what i did on one of my early posts of " my new old 1988 Starcraft 20v " .

Does that round button come off??? Are you saying that there is a screw behind it?

That was it, thanks !! Remove the rubber piece in the center of the lever and there is a screw behind it. Shift into full reverse and that will expose an allen screw in the front of the lever. Mine is 1/8 in. loosen it but do not remove it. It will be hard to get back in the hole!! Then pull the throttle off. Be careful of the wires, They will still be attached.
