How do you go about tuning prop sizes on boat/motor set ups when stores and online retailers don't accept returns once props have been "used"? I am about to order 3 props but 2 aren't going to be needed, I just don't know which 2 yet.

Read the stickys at the top of the prop forum.Get us as much info as possible we may be able to help you narrow things down.
There are dealers that will allow people to try some props with the understanding you rate buying,
Usually a sizable deposit is required as an incentive to follow up on your intent to purchase.
If you end up with extra props some folks put them on Craigs list or eBay.

Prop shops who sell and repair props around here will allow you to test before you buy "IF" you return the test prop you didn't want in the same condition it was in when you picked it up. In short, go to known clean water, make your test and get it off. If you want to stay around and boat some more, take along your old prop and put it on. You will pay more initially for the prop but it will be the cheapest in the long run and the one with which you will be satisfied..........and just what's that worth?
