How do you test mixture?

I have a 24:1 motor and a 50:1 motor I wanted know if there is a way to verify or test the mixture of the fuel to verify that you have the appropriate mix.<br /><br />thanks.

I test by lookingat the outside of the gas tank. I always write what mixture is inside with a marker. I can't imagine theres an easier way to do it than this. ;)

If you're concerned that the 24:1 motor might end up with the 50:1 tank, dump another pint of oil in. If it is in fact the 24:1 tank, it'll just be bumped up to 16:1, and if it's actually the 50:1 tank, it'll bump up to 24:1. In either case, it might smoke a bit more, but shouldn't hurt anything as long as you're not planning on trolling all day. Burn up the tankful of fuel and then mark the tanks for future reference...<br />- Scott

If you have separate tanks for your engines, you might want to get a couple of cheap plastic luggage tags to identify which is the 24:1 and 50:1. You could also put your name and phone number on them, incase the tanks grow legs. I have used tags such as these for quite a while and it makes boating a little eaiser.<br />...Bob in Calif... :cool:
