How does everyone wire their two battery system?

A response in a previous thread got me wondering...how does everyone wire their two battery systems? I use an isolator to keep my batteries charged, but operating independently. My main battery is for engine start only and is also wired to a second float switch for my bilge pump in case the aux battery dies or the main float switch goes bad. My aux battery runs everything else. My thinking is that I always want to have a fully charged battery for engine start since not only will my engine get me home, it will charge both batteries when running. If my aux battery should fail or go dead, I have some comfort knowing I have a "fresh" battery for engine start. I consider accessories secondary. Any other views?

I have an "A,B, Both" switch so I can use any combination at anytime based on useage. Not sure how the bilge pump is hooked up, that's a good question and I'll have to email Grady White on that one... unless someone here can tell me!

The "A", "B", "Both" switch is a good idea. I'll be installing one of those sometime in the future. Definitely gives you more flexibility.

Good idea A, B, BOTH. I was looking at installing a second battery in my new boat. I can get a battery for free is why I am looking at that.

a-b-both switchs are great, but remember to turn off key before switching from one to another.<br />have fun on the water

i have an isolator, my a/b/both/off is on a box of spare parts....i'd rather not have to deal with a switch.
