how far to grind?

I have my boat gutted, stringers wrestled out and started grinding. I will post pics tomorrow when I get my camera back. How much do I need to grind to replace stringers? Do I aim to remove all of the original tabbing or just grind to clean well bonded fiberglass? The boat is a 21 ft Sangster hardtop.
Thanks,
Alan

Grind away the old stuff. You'll see a noticeable color change when you are at the sweet spot. Vacuum and give a good washout. You can look at frisco thread or I have a decent washout out on my thread. Good luck & welcome to dry dock.

If you see daylight you have gone too far... :D JK... You are just looking for a color change and to make sure it is good and clean. You need to make sure and get every inch of the hull.

On my sea ray is was pretty obvious when you got to the original hull. I grinded down til there was no more glue or dry fiberglass. Really I tried to get to the hull in most spots.
