I dont own one, however I work on them daily.
so far the F200 and F225 have been very dependable.
however they do require maint as all motors do regardless of infomercial hype.

I have a 2004 and it rocks. Basically just kep the oil changed per the manual and it runs great. You will probably need to replace the starter if you drift fish. You will forget it is running (so quiet) and grind the starter trying to start an already running motor. Mine is on a 2004 hydro sport 22.5 and it's the best engien I've ever owned. I have an 8 HP on my 25 catalina and that one runs great too. I am sick of 2 strokes and all their problems. Smart move going to a 4 especially a Yamaha.

I would rather see the fuel and cooling system maint than just oil changes. there is a lot more to maintaining that high performace machine than simply changing the oil.
get a copy of the 4 stroke EFI maint chart, look at the top of the colums, the maint schedule is in Hours OR calander periods whichever comes FIRST.
have some of these engines out there with 8-10 thousand hours on them.
one has suffered 2 gearcase failures. however the man runs it about 60 hours a week and refuses to haul it to change the gearcase oil.
it gets one change a year whether it needs it or not.
so is that a bad product or a lack of maint failure ?

Hi,

Just a note for 2007 of Yamaha F200 and F225:

Yamaha is making them like F250 regarding VCT, same intake, cylinder head, fuelinjectors.
Also the exhaust system will be like F250 that will lower the noice level.

Among the benifits are for example 16 % better torque between 2000-3000 rpm.

The only thing that will be different between F200, F225 and F250 is EMC (Computer) for 2007 season.

The reason they upgrade the F200 and F225 is to meet future environmental requirements.

So the F200 and F225 will have the "F250 Exclusive Features & Benefits" for 2007 season.
