This thread is for the benefit of newcomers and others that depend on one or more supposedly credible sources other than the OEM Manual. Below is a picture of the Swivel Housing, Bearing Housing and Pinion gear assembly as depicted in my 1975 OMC Manual:
Above is pretty much so what came out of my Upper Gearcase. Now, below is a Diagram from the BRP site of a 1975 High Profile Gearcase:
I challenge anyone to Identify the top photo as part of the bottom Photo.
Lessons to be learned:
1) Get yourself an OEM Manual
2) Have more than one source of information
3) Question everything and anyone when information given does not make sense.
