How are you effectively using your outdrives in non standard ways. Please post engine hp, outdrive size, prop pitch, boat length, performance. Here's what I've been running and it's been doing great.

Engine: 170hp
Outdrive: 1.98
Prop Pitch: 21p
Boat length: 18
Performance: Powerful out of the hole
Top speed: 38ish

Reason: I'd like to mate a 1.50r outdrive to my 470 engine. I'm almost certain that I'll have to decrease the pitch in prop to even it out. I'm just curious if anyone has already tried this swap. Plus this might be a good place to post effective engine/outdrive/prop mating and keep it all in one place.

I love this engine. Powerful. Friendly on gas. Lightweight. (I hated the engine when it was stator/watercooled regulator/magneto charged). PLUS it's antifreeze cooled. Minimal risk of freeze cracking the block or manifold.

You have a 3.0L outdrive ratio on a 470. The 1.50 ratio is for a V8.
Use the proper gear ratio, and you will have a more effecient outdrive at all ranges.

I had one too. I did the cam fix and didn't have any other real issues with it. Lots of torque.
