T 9.9 EXHS 1994. Would like to know how many amps the alternator is producing.

Want to use it as a kicker; will run my auto-pilot (Raymarine), downriggers and Sonar-gps.

Do you think it will be sufficient to keep my batteries charged at trolling speed?

Got a 9.9 myself. They produce a maximum of 10 amps but the only way you will know for sure what it is outputting is to fit an ampmeter.

You'll need RPMs to get decent output. If you're going to be trolling at or just above idle, it won't put out much.

I agree that at trolling speed you may not have enough to maintain full charge but there may just be enough to get you through a few hours without taking too much out (depending on the current draw). If more than say 5 amps, don't do it. Then recharge when you dock.

Thanks for the answers. I will start the main engine time to time just to be on the safe side.

Good idea! Try it. Time will tell how far you can go safely. An ammeter would be a great addition to your instuments.
