How many drain plugs?

I have a 2000 Stingray 4.3L V6. My old 3.0 had 2 brass plugs I had to remove to drain the block and manifold. On the 4.3 I see at least 4 (blue plastic plugs). The engine is currently still winterized but I would like to possibily get out on the water this weekend. We still have the possibility of freezing temperatures (probably not but you never know) and I would like to drain the block to be on the safe side.

Anyone know how many drain plugs are on this engine and where they all are?

Thanks,
Brian

I would not even touch a plastic plug.If it breaks ,what do you do then?????Leave them alone. There wont be any temps to be afraid of until October.Charlie

Pretty sure all V's have 4, one on each side of the block and one for each manifold, I have Cobra's but helped a buddy once do his Merc's and he had the Merc blue platic drains, I thought they actually worked pretty good. As far as I know this is the only way you can drain the block and manifold.

Hi Brian. If the blue plugs are of the screw in type, then they are the drains.

If you do happen to break them you can easily get brass replacements. In fact, I replaced my plastic plugs on my last boat with brass ones just so I wouldn't worry about breaking them.

Make sure to get his address Nick so you can help him get out the threaded part of the plastic that is still in the( easy to get to) block when it breaks. That is since YOU wouldnt worry about breaking them.

Charlie the plastic plugs don't necessarily just screw into the side of the engine block. They screw into brass adapters that bring the thread from 1/4 pipe to 1/2 13 for the plugs. If you were to break one off you could always remove the adapter and replace with a 1/4 pipe plug.
