I have got the new transom installed as well as a couple of the short stringers. my question is, how many layers do I need to attatch the transom to hull? As is right now I have 1.5oz mat,18oz woven,1.5oz mat and 18oz woven, 4 layers total. is this enough or not?I am using US Composites 3-1 epoxy resin. one other question, can any product such as liquid nails or any other adhesive/caulking be used to bed the long stringers into place?

I know you guys are out there so please help. I want to finish the glassing this weekend and I need your help. my transom does not meet the sides of the hull, it only goes as wide as the 2 stringers. is 4 layers enough? also, the caulking question.

The transom needs to be integrated with the hull. Mixup some epoxy filler (epoxy and cabosil), and fill in the gap between the hullsides and the transom. Then glass over transom and onto the hullsides with at least two more layers.

Bed the stringers in with epoxy and cabosil. Then glass them in

How thick was it to start with? Just build it back to the original thickness.

there was no glass covering the old wood. It was just bonded to the hull. the buildup on the edges was just mat and resin that did not overlap the face of the transom wood. I was able to remove the old wood in one complete piece. hope this isn't too confusing.

If there was no glass over it to start with and it didn't fail, then any amount of glass over it will work. I assume you replaced it because it was rotten.
