Volvo Penta 5.7GS. Product No on the actual part that has the prop:

Product No: 3868890
ratio: 1.51
serial: 4202031705

Right now I have a 4 blade SS on it, i have no idea how many splines. Im gonna get an aluminum 3 blade 17pitch, but idk what this spline number is before the pitch (example _______x17). Anyone know?

The number before the pitch is usually the diameter. Usually with a VP drive the spline count is pretty much the same for whatever series of drive. I am not sure why you need the spline count, but is the boat not close enough to just remove the current prop and count the splines?

so theres 20 splines. So given I wanted to get a 17p prop; I would look for 20x17? Doesnt make sense.... or does it?

Nope, you need a ____(diameter) X 17 pitch with a 20 spline hub.

We can help you select the right prop if t you can give us the info requested in "read this first" at the top of the prop forum.
You should discuss with us what you would like to accomplish.
If you look up your year and displacement( 5.7 ) with a correct prop size the spline will follow.
My info indicates 19 spline. If your new to this you shouldn't make a prop change without discussing it with us.
When changing material and design there may be other considerations to consider.
Prop size is given diameter X pitch. Very basically the diameter changes with the pitch/design of the prop.
If a prop is indicated for your motor/ out drive the diameter will be correct.
