Does anyone know how many cans of spray cans to paint an OMC outdrive from top to bottom?

Depends, If you sand and prep very well and want a good paint job then at least 3 cans.
Any bare metal needs a very light coat of etching primer before paint.

I use the Moeller brand engine paints.They have the factory matched colors.

DJ.....aint that the truth !

i do mercs with one can.

do it to every boat that the drive comes off.
costs me hardly anything......and the owner is blown away every time

Should I do another coat of clear over or just 2 coats is good enough?

if you are happy with the results of the second coat....why bother?....

if you get a scratch.....you can just touch it up....if you clear it.....that is another step

that would work for me good tip on the clear. I like less work with good results so 2 coats is fine for me.
