need rough idea how much it would cost......is a 1993 model motor. Any help appreciated.

In real good condition, about $1500 around here, we have a short season and no saltwater. Alot depends on condition. It could be as low as $500.

Good catch dmessy. I guess I mis-read the question.<br /><br />If you are doing the conversion, it could cost you much much more. When I tried to do it to my 15hp Johnson, it cost over $6000. But it came with 55 extra hp, livewell, trolling motor, sc, pedestal seats, and a galvanized trailer.

Thanks for the help guys. Appreciate the link Dmessy, best i can tell it will run me about 275 - 300 for the parts. The biggest problem, like Roscoe says, is holding off on all the "options". Been struggling with that.

I have an '82 Johnson 20hp - actually this board helped me with a pesky cold start problem the other day that I was having with it.<br /><br />Anyway, my motor had a ring gear, so I picked up a reconditioned OEM starter for $135.00. I (mistakenly) decided against purchasing a stator kit and bolted up the starter and just ran a keyed push button start. (I would recommend getting the stator kit for another $100 or so - just to avoid having to repeatedly pull and charge the battery)<br /><br />It works great, but didn't make my cold-start problem any less frustrating, just easier on the knuckles and arms.<br /><br />Good luck!

Maybe moving south would help that cold start problem your motor has.
