how much can I tow??

Hi, not really a boating questions, but figured someone should know here!!

I just bought a 1995 chevy truck 4x4 with the 5.7 350 engine. It is a 3/4 ton, but has 6 lug axles. It didnt have a user manual in it so Im curioujs to know how much it can tow. Anyone have a the same truck and know the answer? thanks

If you are towing using just a ball on the bumper I think max is 5000 lbs if using a hitch attached to the frame the info i could find said 5700-8000 lbs depending on transmission type, gearing, horsepower etc.

Call your dealer, give them your vin. They will give you your answer.

You may be able to find the answer online with some searching but calling a dealer is much easier.

I have a 99 3/4 ton 4x4. The manual says for your engine:

3.42 axle 6,500
3.73 " 7,500
4.10 " 8,500 lbs.

thanks for the answers, Ill try calling the dealer, but for some reason, their not too friendly around here unless your buying something from them!!
Im going to use a rapid hitch, not the bumper...

No need to call the dealer. You were just given the answer. And unless you know what axle ratio your truck has, the dealer can't give you information different what was just provided. Telling us what you intend to tow would enable us to at least say yes or no.

Looks like you are good up to 6500 lbs not matter what. I owned a 93 Suburban for quite some time and I was always comfortable towing up to 6500 lbs. It had the 350 V8 and I have no idea what rearend it had, but I put a trailer with a bobcat I rented on it one time and I knew I was towing more than it was made for. I towed it to and from the rental shop, but that was as much as I would do with it. I think it went about 7500.
