I can't seem to find any reference to how much my E90TLCNB weighs? I need to remove it from the boat and just wondering how many guys to lift it?

Re: how much does my motor weigh?

I would think it would be in the front part of the owners/operators manual. My 1977, 70hp Johnson weighs 222lbs according to my manual if that helps you any.

I don't have a manual for it yet. But if I use your figures as a guidline my motor is probably in the 250lbs range?

just in case you have never removed one before be carefull as the steering cable may not be able to be removed until the motor is moved to the side. always better to use a hoist if possible

Ya I'm thinking a hoist now for sure. I have a buddy that can bring one over. And you're right about the steering cable. I cannot remove it all the way without moving the motor over.

Good timing. I needed to ask the same question about my 1971 Johnson 85HP for towing purposes. I was going to title my question "How much does my Johnson weigh"? .....but I thought it might not be appropriate.

NADA sure the heck isn't any good for used boat prices, but the one and only bit of good information I've gotten from their site (nadaguides.com) in the past has been engine weights.

For what it's worth, I put an eye bolt on the main roof support in my garage and just attached a come along last time I needed to remove my motor. It worked really well. A strong tree would also suffice if you have one available.

It is a proven fact that the weight of an outboard motor increases over time - directly proportional to the age of the owner.

My 30 HP Mariner weighed 110 lbs. back in 1985, when I purchased it. I could easily lift it from the transom. It now weighs about 300 lbs., and takes me and two of my buddies to remove it.

I think eventually you reach the point where it's not a matter of recruiting enough help, but actually getting all those eager helpers enough space and hand-holds on the darn thing to lift it.

You really can't fit more than about 3 people around an outboard motor. If you need more oomph than 3 can provide, I think you're pretty well forced to use a lift of some sort.

Yup! I did basically the same thing. Had my buddy weld up a lil lifting eye to bolt on the flywheel, raise come along, lower onto motor stand, rinse and repeat. Works like a charm.

Btw according to OMC your motor weighed 309lbs at birth ...

And fyi the bolt holes in the flywheel for a lifting eye are 5/16 FINE thread, NOT coarse thread ...

Re: how much does my motor weigh?

Dunno where yada got that number but 235# is way wrong. Think they accidentally switched the 2'n the 3? Hell a Yammi IL 3 cyl weighs 260 - 270?! Regardless of HP. A V4 OMC Crossflow motor weighs a lil over 300lbs.
