How much force to move a outdrive?

Like how much force dose a trim cylinders put out? I am trying to figure out a home made trim system for my old Volvo 270 but I am not sure how pressure it would take to move it when I am at speed.

it depends on the diameter of the cylinders that you use Prestolite pumps put out 2500# per sq. in on most units that would take a 1 1/2 or 2 in. cyl

One problem you are going to have is the reverse lock. If the drive is trimmed up (even a little), and you try to go to reverse the drive will kickup, and the drive kicking up and slamming back down can really tear things up.
