Just installed new motor and the new outboards cavitation plate is only about an 1-1.5" under the bottom of the boat. We previously had smaller twin outboards, which were the same shaft length. And our transom steps down 2" in the center, where the new motor is, as opposed to the old twin 50s were on the step 2" up. Even w/ the transom step and same outboard the new motor does hang very low in the water due to being in the middle of the transom where teh boats V is the deepest.

What to do? Will the motor work at this level around a turn? What can be down about this problem short of cutting a 2" notch out of the transom?

thanks
