how much pressure should a fuel pump be putting out?

Thanks for the help in the past. my 94 115 had the vro taken off. a different pump was put on and it was determined that over the course of the last couple of years the pressure has been dropping. It now sits at about 1 psi! not good. found that the motor was running lean and was having power issues out of the hole. heads got warm enough to melt some of the casing on the wires that rested on the head, but never got hot enough for the buzzers to go off (we checked to make sure they worked). what is the recommended psi for a fuel pump to work properly? hoping this will fix my issues!!!

Also... would a bad stator cause the tach to bounce and work intermittently? or would the rectifier/regulator be the issue? found out that someone had stripped the negative bolt on the block and we're not sure if it was connecting properly.

thanks guys

The fuel pump pressure for a mechanical lift pump should be in the range of 3-7 psi. If the motor ran lean enough for the block to get hot enough to start melting wires, try also doing a compression check as well. I would be concerned about the cyl's being scored up. Also, you may want to check your water pump.

The reg/rect is usually the culprit for a tach not reading correctly but also check for loose wires at the terminal board, on the motor, and at the backside of the gauge. You can also check for voltage at the grey wire while the motor is running. It should read about 6 volts dc. If the rectifier is working there should be more than battery voltage on the red lead at the terminal board as well.
