About to replace the transom in an I/O (mercruiser R series drive) want to wrap glass and resin around drive cutout in the wood to seal. Wrap from material (glass) from between plywood and outer shell through hole and attach to inner surface of ply.

How much room does one have to "play" with?? Does outdrive need "all" the room to mount or will plus or minus 1/8" around the edges not affect the fit and movement needed for normal operation??

Thanks for all replies and thought.

Ayuh,....

When I'm doin' what you're about to attemp,.....
I end up mounting the transom assembley 6 or more times, Before it goes on for the Last time....

While most of the transom assemblies are the Same,......
No 2 "Holes" cut into the Hulls Are....

Cut,+ Fit, Trim,+ Fit, Clearence,+ Fit,....

The Transom absolutely Must be 2" thick....No more than 2, 1/8"....
Inside Must be parallel with the outer flat surface,...

The Boltholes locate the crankshaft centerline,...
The Center Keyhole,...
Can be whatever you need, as long as the gasket,+ support surfaces are True.......

Good Luck....
