I have a 1995 Sea Ray 195BR w/3.0LX Mercruiser engine. The engine has a cracked block and I no longer want to put any money into it. The trailer is dual axle and is 7 yrs old and in great shape.

Anyone have a starting point on what I should sell the whole thing for? I have no clue. I'm in Tampa, FL.

I don't see you getting much more than $1000-$1500 out of it.

I have about $0.45 and some pocket lint. Will that get it? :D I may even throw in a half used tube of chapstick.

Donate it. If you have the title a charity will pick it up and take it right off your drive way hassle free with no questions asked. I dontated my first boat and got a tax deduction worth $2,000.

That's actually a great idea. There are several charities that do it. Some are for Vets, some are for kids, some are for cancer research, etc. Find one that means something to you.

I did the same with a car back in the day. However, it isn't what it used to be. You can now only deduct what they actually get for it at auction. This may still be worth it to you to not have to deal with the morons on craigslist.

Actually that's not right EZ. I was going to donate my '98 220H recently, and they were going to write me a receipt for donation to charity for the average retail value of the boat and trailer. I didnt do it because I wanted to keep the trailer at the time, and they would not take it without one, but it would have been over $7k receipt, right then and there.

In this area (palmeto) that would go quick for 800 or you could sit on it for a bit and maybe get 1500 to the right buyer.

What kind of shape is the boat in besides the motor? Pics would be nice. I have had several people offer $1500-$2500 for my 1989 bow rider. Yours is newer. Depending on your area and the condition of the boat you may get more than you think.

I have a nice charity fund you can donate it to...

the M.T. Fund. It was established by "me" to help further the advancement of my wealth. That's right. You too can help the MT Wallet foundation by donating your unwanted boat to "me". I will then arrange for a buyer to purchase said boat, at the highest possible price. All proceeds will go directly to my MT Wallet fund. Sound good?

around here, $600-950. Not over the $1000 mark. A lot depends on if your market likes that type of boat (mine doesn't).

If you replace the engine yourself you might get more than that plus the cost. Have you priced used or rebuilt blocks? This time of year the buyers want turn-key. This is assuming, too, the rest of the boat is in great condition. Old bow-riders are a dime a dozen.

You are not doing a charity a favor by dumping a non-functioning boat on it. EDIT

That thing would have to be mint, otherwise I'm thinking that'd be a break-even situation at best.

A good many of the boats offered for sale from these charity organizations have problems, and they sell just fine. Look on eBay, and you will find many donated boats...most have engine issues. This is why they were donated, and not sold. The charities don't mind. They get them for free, the movers donate their time to haul them around, and if it only sells for $100, it is still $100 FREE. It's a win-win all the way around.
