how much should my engine repair cost ? im trying to see if im getting screwed

It all started because of hugeee oil leak so mechanic took engine out which is a merc 5.7 350 I/o . When checked oil pressure it was 90 at 3000 rpm so oil pump was tge origanal fix .now It led to do oil pan gasket , oil pump rear main seal gasket .timing case gasket ,intake gadket , 2 cylinder head gaskets. Gimble bearing .gasket kit for oudrive .and now 2 pistons and rings.and new carberator .sounds like a ****load cuz it is .so if anybody can just give me a rough idea on the labor price.because ive been buying the parts which is adding up .Thanks guys

Why don't you ask the guy doing the work, I'm sure he could give a closer estimate than we can, since he knows whats going on, what's done so far, what he still has to do, what the problem is, and his hourly rate.
We don't know any of that.

Dont understand what the pistons have to do with anything... The oil pan gasket, rear main seal and timing cover are standard for bottom end work. The head gaskets and intake gaskets are upper end work, and have to be removed to install the pistons. Not sure what book labor is on your motor... He will charge for removal and installation of the engine, parts installation, and diagnostic time. I would expect he has at least 10 book hours in it @ 95-115 per hr.

If he is only going to change 2 pistons and the rings on them, he isn't a very good tech. Sounds fishy to me, but that is JMHO

Depending on the hours on the engine, comp test etc etc, would have probably gone for a reman. JMHO.
