How much slop?

I am a novice boater, so therefore I don't know much about the 2cycle outboard motor I have an 1982 Chrysler force 85 motor. I am wondering how much "slop"should be in my prop when I'm out of the water and in gear? I seem to be able to turn the prop a 60 degrees or so until it catches the gear. I am having an issue with the motor stopping and now power to the prop, and I am wondering if I destroyed something with the dog gear by accidentally hitting some rocks. If so, how hard is it to rebuild a lower end?

An 82 85hp you won't be able to rebuild unless you have the proper tools.
The gear set needs to be shimmed and that needs the tools.

If you hit bottom?? it's possible the hub is spun and needs a rebuild?
That could be the no power ?

60d. does it lock in once you turn it?

Does it stall when it stops?
