How much thrust do you need from a trolling motor on a kayak?

I have decided to ad a trolling motor to my Wilderness Ride 115X. I think it would be really nice for trolling.
And it just might save my back getting back in as I already have problems there at age 68.
So how much thrust do I need? Minimal like a 30# do it?

I had a 40# thrust trolling motor that moved my 14' aluminum paddle boat around just fine. where you gonna put the battery?

I have a compartment just behind the seating position that will work fine.
I am thinking about making this a stern mount motor. More work but I think I will like it.

Does the battery have to be secured down to the floor like on boats? That was always my hesitation. I just didn't want to be drilling around.

It would depend on what you are going to use it for. Mine will be on clam little lakes. Heavier and rougher water you might want to secure it.
I see many just put them in a standard plastic milk crate with a little foam and then strap the crate down to existing tie points on the kayak.

I just ordered my Minn Kota 30 and it will mount on the stern when I am done modifying it.
