How much to rebuild

Hi guys
Never had a boat and just joined 20 mins ago

Did a few searches.
I'm looking at buying a boat similar to a Glastron - around 23-26ft. Seems to be a Volvo 5.0 - 5.7 L engine.

Im wondering if I have to rebuild one of these engines (worst case - complete overhaul) what kind of money am I looking at ???

I know my diesel truck - including complete teardown and rebuild will run me around $4k. No idea on the range for these and if they will typically come with warranty after rebuild if a good builder etc

So - with labor - probably looking at $3-$4k ?
Thinking 20 hours @ $75 p/h ??

Bout $2k for the engine and about a grand or a bit less for labour. Besides, unless it's winterized improperly, chances are you won't have to rebuild it unless it's been abused. The engine should last a long time.

How about the whole unit with the tansmission/drive unit etc ....

Just trying to get a handle on worst case scenario - or where I find a good hull and electronics but unsure whats wrong with the engine I can factor that into my cost estimates.
