Am going to sell my boat - not enough time to use it and taking up space in garage and want to pay off bills. :( Will buy another deeper vee sometime in future. Whats my boat worth? Boat is 17' 3 yrs old, alum., 40hp Merc 2 stroke(I use synthetic oil), was gone over 3-4 yrs ago(maybe 20 hrs on it), remote steering, anchor, NEW trailer not in pic(600 miles on it), spare tire, under seat/bow storage, 4 seats + aft and fore swivels for existing seats. New water pump, prop, extra prop, good condition. Also has new 3D depth/fishfinder/GPS/speedo/thermometer,tach.,anchor, trolling motor, 2-6 gal. fuel tanks, tech. manual, new marine battery and trolling motor battery, current registration, trailer is new as old one rearended last year and ins. co replaced, and new trailer winch. Does about 25 mph.
Thanks, Heinz
P.S. I understand your feelings...but that's what the boat goes for in this area...There is a plethoria of that stuff here and trailers are very cheap down here...there are several manufactures trailers within 15 miles of each other. Why would you want to put a $700.00 trailer under that particular setup? A brand new heavy duty trailer for that boat would cost you about $300.00 here. Your in California and your market may be different there, BUT here, its's about what I said its worth regardless of the trailer. That's why I said "In South Florida:".

$1500 - $2000 around here (Wisconsin).

You can't buy a trailer for a 17' boat for under $600 here. Just priced a new one for a 12' and it was $425.

Trailer $400
Boat and goodies $800
Motor $600-$900

Roscoe's price sound like a fair range to me. If boat, motor and trailers like yours are selling for 500 to 600 in Flordia I want to know where. I am on my way to them and bring them up to New York. I could make more money doing that than remodeling work. A new trailer has to be worth 600 to 700. Just price out the parts and then add labor and porfit.

Many years ago I bought two boats in Florida and took them to Virginia at this time of year and sold them for twice what I paid. I do think FlyBoyMark is a bit on the low side though, even in Florida.

Forget Florida Heinz, you need to find out what the market is in Ca. Point is the market is highly location driven from what I've seen.

Bubbaboater...best place to look for the small boats is around the Orlando area, 'bout 50 mile radius. Down where I live in Fort Liquerdale, boats over 17' are a better deal....AND no, that's an old motor that Heinz has thats only rated 35 HP at the prop. Was Mercs first looper(good motor though..). And the hull is kinda old too. Anything down here more than 10 years old jus' don't bring much unless its a Whaler or some other sort of premium boat. 'Memeber...we have boat/motor dealers up the ying yang down here and most everything down here is discounted deeply when its new. Example: I bought my brand new Mercury electric 40 HP 3 cylinder 2 cycle for $2,500.00 from Bass Pro Shops in Dania 2 years ago.

Hey guys thanks for all input! To set facts straight, hull is oly 3-5 yrs old and motor is 1972 model but was totally rebuilt maybe 20 hrs ago. That motor in CA goes for at least $1500.00 used. I've had it out on Delta here(by Antioch) with old prop and 25 knots - damn fun ride and a nice wake! :) Me & 2 of my 200+ lbs buddies fished great in it last summer. I just dont really have time for it(5 kids, baseball, work, etc)and I'd rather get a leg up on bills, $ towards house, etc. THEN get more of a vee hull boat. Thanks again, Heinz

Don't get me wrong, I just have to add up what I put into it, fair market value(not trying to make a killing) and what going rate is. Basically hull is 3-5 yrs old($6-800 ??), motor 1972 rebuilt 20 hrs ago woth approx. $1500, new water pump, fishfinder($600)gps/speedo/, NEW trailer($700) and new spare tire, trolling motor($150 approx), NEW trailer winch w/ wheel, remote steering, real fun ride, current CA reg. and 5 yr trailer license, 2-6 gal tanks, new prop(old spare good), trolling motor batt, new motor batt., I figure $3000??? No leaks , no probs. Heinz

You probably can get your money out there.....H e l l, If you can make a killing, do it!!
On another subject I sure wanted one of those 40/35 loopers awhile back in a short shaft for a boat I had.....That motor is one of the best in class back then. They dropped production of them about 6 months before I could buy one. Dealers only had long shafts.... :(

Heinz - Most knowledgeable buyers don't give a rip what you have in it. They try to figgure what the market is for that boat and shoot to buy it for %10-20 under that. Granted there are buyers out there that will drool over all of the extra toys and that is good for you.

Sorta depends on what you and the buyer finally think the thing is worth. If you dig your heels in because you have priced it over the market because of what you have in it, it is quite likely that you will ahve to wait for a buyer who gets stars in their eyes when they see your boat. To them you might get your price.
