I have an 83 bayliner with a aq125a and 270 drive. When i connect the muffs and water hose i dont see much water coming out of the exhaust. It barely sprays my hand when i put it in front of it. Is this normal? I heard people saying that it needs to come out the same amount that comes in, but how do i know how much water goes in if the muffs are splashing out most of the water. How much water should come out the exhaust when idle and with the muffs well placed? Also, should the heat exchange keep water inside the salt water side when not using the boat?

They're right,as much out as goes in. The muffs you(I always do) can tape them in place.
It needs to be done when the drive is dry.
The very bottom/front of the drive is a hole, about 1/2in in size.
This needs to be plugged or it won't pick up the water.
Using a nozzle from a small tube of sillycone works great.
There will be some water in the system at all times unless you drain it.
Profile? Location? You might be close to someone who can help.
You need to check the impeller. The sea water side.Turn the cap off when it's running and see how much water comes out.
Also the manifold.Check the end for corrosion and blockage.
