I could afford to have a couple new vehicles if I really wanted, but I choose to have a bunch of older vehicles. My newest is my '96 Cherokee and I plan on replacing it with another 60s-70s truck. They just feel more solid to me and I like to feel the road. When I'm driving a new-ish vehicle with those fancy things called "shocks" it feels like I'm just playing a video game. :D

I drive a 99 Montana I bought from my Aunt after my Uncle passed in January. Only 39,000 on it now. The newest vehicle I have ever owned.

Oldest, 1987 Mazda RX/7. 291,000 miles, (wrecked at the moment), but I have all the parts now.

Newest, 1993 Ford Ranger 4X4, regular cab. 172,000 miles and going strong.

I rarely buy a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it. New vehicles are a total waist of money IMHO.

Im like OZ, if I wanted to I could buy a new vehicle, but why would I want to throw away that kind of money in depresiation alone, if I wanted to do that I would play the lottery. At least then there is a slight chance of getting some of the money back.

Yeah, even if you take out a loan on an old vehicle you don't lose nearly as much. If I put $4000 into my old truck I would get more than that back when I sell it. How much do they give you back after $4000 worth of car payments? :p

Not to mention insurance for the '96 6 cylinder is $1500/year, and the '79 8 cylinder is about $100/year.

I replaced the 1999 Daiwoo and now I'm pushing my 2000 Nissian Teirra down the driveway. :D . But still have a 1980 toyota 4X4 and a 1974 Ford f100 stock, no radio, no air condition, no lighter, no power brake or sterling and no way in hill do I like to drive it for an everyday vehicle.. I'm working on a 1969 ford Mercury that belongs to my mother. :D .

Re: How new is your newest vehicle?

I just bought a 1989 Toyota Corolla, yesterday. Got it for $600. It runs fine, but needs a tune-up. It has 194,000kms on it.
My 1991 Chevy S-10 has 180,000kms on it. It needs some work done on it before I put it back on the road.
My 2003 Kawasaki KLR650 has 19,000kms on it.
I can't remember how many kms my boat has.
