Always lots of Carb How-To questions or carb symptom-to repair questions......

Im not at all gloating with this one, but here goes...

I have twin 2001 150 Johnson Oceanrunners J150vxsi's. 60 deg loopers. NON-FICHT motors.

Boat and motors, Ive had 2 seasons now.

They were maintained meticilously by prior owner and I have all records since purchased new in 2001. He spent a ton on seasonal & periodic dealer/yard maintanance, a ton.

These run very very good for me. I use BRP Engine Tune, and Seafoam occasionally. Normal maint stuff. Clean my VRO tank and lines. I have 3 fuel tanks, seperate feed lines, seperate filters etc.

Do people do carb kits on these as a matter of periodic maint? Even if running well/no symptoms??

Sorry if wordy..I'd hate to chance introducing a problem and do a full carb job, when im running so well.

Thoughts?

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Seriously if the carbs are functioning properly why rebuild them?

If the carbs are doing their repective homework right why would you rather throw money down the drain going per new carb kits. When performing Corrective carb issues Yes, as preventive maintenance a resounding NO. Have never, ever changed new carb kits on any of my motors...

I get a kick out of the posts where folks say---" rebuilt the carburetors and motor still runs the same "----Drain carburetors of fuel for long term storage.----Other than that just leave them alone.

First thing people do is tear into the carb. Crazy. Um....my motorcycle has been sitting in storage for three years with gas in it. Now it won't run. Wonder why. Probably needs carb cleaning. LOL.

Throw away old gas contents sitting in the fuel tank, fuel line and carb. Buy fresh and see if motor starts as used to.
