how stable would my boat be in rougher water

I'm getting mixed reviews (by people who havn't seen my boat or been on it) on taking my boat down to our big lake. The water can get pretty rough.

how stable are tri-hulls normally?

Its only a 16ft, but it seems way more stout than other boats especially tri-hulls, i've seen of the era. Any time i see a boat i look it over as much as possible, most other tri-hulls of, or around the same length, seem, well, rather dinky compared to mine.

I feel like i should be fine. Its 75" across, and the transom is about 33" deep.

I know this is probably a hard question to answer, I guess I'm just seeing what you experienced folk think.

I don't mean to sound rude, but the only experience that matters here is
your experience in the boat in the water you want to boat in.

I wouldn't try it when it's "pretty rough", but somewhat milder than that,
and find out what it's like for you.

Good luck!

I'm still very new! thats part of my problem. The boat is really easy to handle, and very easy to drive.

Thats why I just thought I'd see what you guys think.

I have a trihull 15 foot, and I get out in some rough water. I dont hit WOT when it is real bad though. I went out in the delta and ran some 3 to 4 foot swells and the boat handled them with water splashing around, wife was not happy but she was cutting right through them. I found a trihull can take a beating BUT you feel that beating! lol

They work very well in light chop on lakes and rivers but in big ocean swells they do not work well. When the swell fills the areas between the hulls the boat is going to go straight up and when it comes down in the trof of the next wave it is not pleasent.

Great ride in the small chop on insland water ways. Also very stable at rest.

As it was said before..the boat can handle rough water as long as the operator knows how to pilot a boat in rough water. There is an art to timing swells, reading the seas.alot of throttle work, and in big seas..one mistake and down you go.I am a licensed captain who has been running boats from 16' up to 58' in all kinds of water, and even i will be amazed at how the conditions can change in a heartbeat. Play it safe, get alot more experience,in both how she handles, and reading water, experience is the best teacher, but not in a 16' tri-hull

Tri-hulls slam back down hard.

Do you have a working automatic bilge pump?

I'm having bilge pump problems as of late, but I'll get to the bottom of it.
