How stupid of me....did I damage my motor?

I have a 1997 johnson 200 looper that I just rebuilt and I discovered something. I have run it about 6 hours since the rebuild and today replaced a faulty powerpack (that would not allow it to start). I discovered that I had the #2 cylinder and #4 cylinder wires from the powerpack reversed. In other words the #2 powerpack wire was attached the #4 coil and the #4 powerpack wire was attached to the #2 coil. It did run ok with these wires reversed but I thought it seemed slightly underpowered, but it did not run terrible as one would have expected. I did notice that at about 3000 rpms it did run rougher. It did heavily consume fuel. Anyway I put the new power pack on and got the wires correctly fitted and it fired right up and idled much more smoothly than before.

My question is: Could my running it like this for about 6 hours have done something bad inside the crankcase? It runs good now, but I worry I did something to the bearings or pistons. Any insight will save me hours maybe even days of worrying. Thanks!!

Probably no damage done as long as the mixed fuel was getting through to the cylinders and the impeller and thermostat were working properly. No damage ....... except to your wallet for gas.

Always follow the color codes on the primary wires going to the coils, not the length. No, I don't think you did any damage either.

You just fired in the wrong order. No big problem. Like old rudedude sayed as long as temp was ok.

This is how I ended up getting them on wrong in the first place, by going by the length.

Yes, the temps were fine. good water pump flow as well. I guess I was just concerned that the cylinders where detonating in the middle of the upstroke which in my mind would not be good for the piston/bearings or possible the reeds? If the spark was on the downstroke then no problem. Not even sure it would really detonate until it gets to a certain compression at the top dead center. Anyone know where the position (and direction of stroke) of the #4 piston is when #2 is at top dead center and where the position (and direction of stroke) of the #2 piston is when #4 is at top dead center?

Just make sure you put the plug in the boat BERFORE you launch.
