How to adjust omc shift assist?

I have been looking through the manual (Seloc crap, looking for oem one) and it tells you how to test the ESA module to see if it's bad but it doesn't tell you how to adjust the little rocker arms that engage the shift assist.

I have been having a problem where sometimes it will shift fine then sometimes when I put it Ito foreward it almost dies. I have to shake the shifter to get the shift assist to stop stumbleing the engine.

Anyone experienced this? How do I adjust it?

Ever replace the shift cable? If not it's due as it's 20+ yrs. old. Go to the Hastings site. It's all there, but too involved to explain here. Good luck with it.

According to the marina receipts I got with the boat the shift cable was done in March.

That's not to say they did it right.
