How to change Gear oil,

I want to change the grear oil in my mercruiser outdrive frist gen. my Question is how much oil to put in and how do you fill it? i have found the screw on the bottom of the drive,( i assume it is the drain) and found a screw on the side by the top that says vent. Do you fill it through that hole? What kind of oil do you recommed? I have tried to download the sevice manual from the sit but it won't open.

You fill from the bottom, when gear lube comes out the vent hole, it's full. Put the vent plug in. Then put the drain plug in.
Put NEW gaskets on those drain and vent plugs. T
