Replacing the floors in my 1996 Glastron 185 SF and am also replacing the existing foam.

I want to check the foam in the fiberglass only stringers (no wood) to make sure no water has creeped in and rotted the foam.

Any recommendations?

Drill a hole in a few places and see what comes out. Maby even a small hole saw to pull a plug to inspect the foam. If good, glass the plug Back in.

Are you absolutely certain the stringers are Foam Filled? Most MFG's didn't fabricate their stringers like this until after the turn of the century

Wow, surprisingly it is! I just looked at the glastron brochure for this boat and its all fiberglass/foam stringers

If they are foam filled does it really matter if the foam is wet or not? Foam doesn't "rot", it just becomes waterlogged, and is there enough foam in stringers to worry about the extra weight of any water in there? ......... Just wondering.

Sooo since they are foam cored stringers, you have NO ISSUES. As long as the glass is in good shape and no Delam then move on!
