Is there a trick to check if the impeller works? Where is water suppose to get out? Any advice?

Well, having worked for the dealer and having also owned a 2 myself, I can tell you that it is very difficult. It is supposed to blow water droplets out the exhaust relief holes in the rear of the midsection. But the truth is it just runs down the inside of the housing and usually doesn't blow out. I threatened to drill a pee hole in mine, but never did. Hint: The flat plate on the side of the cylinder gets sizzeling hot. So does the cylinder head immediately around the spark plug. The rest of the powerhead should remain reasonably cool.

on mine, it does blow small droplets out those little relief holes. Can be hard to see, but if you hold your hand in front if it, it gets wet. I changed the impeller on mine (eventhough it did seem to pump water), it pumped quite a bit more after. It's such an easy job to change it, you should just do it if you're at all worried about it's condition, or you don't know if/when it's ever been done before.

Yep, stick it in a garbage can, fire it. Should get yer hand wet out the relief holes if the pump good. I have a 71, and worked on a neighbors 72. It wasn't pumping much at all. Have a great old time dealer here in town, and sold me an upgrade kit for it. Cost $45. Has a new housing, SS cup, different impeller...pumps like crazy now. Any good old Johnny/Rude dealer should know of it. Theres a mess of those motors out there.
