How to clean out the salt inside your cowling?

I have a 150 Yami 4 stroke. On my return from a halibut trip today, I noticed some salt deposit build up on the bottom of the cowling where the power head is. How do you keep that area inside clean? I am afraid to spray water on the block and wires and powerhead itself. Can you spray some corrosion block in there without hurting anything?

My first question would be. Why is it there to begin with?

We wash out the inside of the motor cover with soap and water.

The motor can be washed down with simple green, dried and spreayed down with your favorite corresion block.

During sloppy weather the motor ingestes salt laden air that accumilates on the motor.

I use Salt a Way, expensive but seems to work. Flush not spray.

Then apply TC-11.

I have my motor mounted on an offshore bracket. The motor is lower to the water than most motors that is just hung off the transom. When Halibut fishing, we usually back into the swells to keep your bait on the bottom with less weight. I am thinking that when the swells hit the motor, some of the water maybe comes in through the vent on the upper part of the cowling. I know that when I wash it and put a hose on the cowling, I get a bit of water inside the cowling. This is my second Yami 150 and my other one did the same thing as well so I am guessing it is "normal".

The motor is fuel injected so there is no carbs. I just want to make sure before I spray some corrosion block on the motor itself or take a hose to it that it is not going to damage it.
