How to determine whether the motors locked up for the outdrive

, I have a 2004 Crownline with a 4.3GL Volvo Pinta motor is appears to be locked up my question is how to determine whether it's the motor or the outdrive

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Pull the drive off, 6 nuts, the rams, 'n pull,.....

If the motor then turns over, the drive is seized,....
If not, the motor is bad,.....

Also disconnect the shift linkage.

Pull the spark plugs and try to turn it over by hand.

Motor was Hydro locked what's my next step

What were you doing before the engine hydro locked? Did you turn the engine off while running at speed or backing up? Did the engine diesel when you turned it off?

What cylinders had water in them? All on one side?

In other words, we need more info.

Was going in for stop so I punched it up for a little speed in forward gear I killed it yes it drizzled I turned key back on and off quickly and it stopped went to start it and starter spinning but not kicking in towed out of water pulled starter bench test it and spins but not kicking in replaced strategist the key clank motor won't turn removed all plugs hit the starter and water shot out of I think 3 of the cylinder 2on one side 1on the other not positive about that 3plugs were wet . I cleaned plugs hit the key to pump all the water out put plugs back in after a while she fired up and starter to even out runs great now.going to change oil and plugs and head back to the water unless there is something I have overlooked thanks so much for advise life saver OKC.Rob

Yep...you did the perfect storm of getting reversion. Just don't do that anymore!
