How to disable my Oil Injection System

I have a 1989 Suzuki DT115 that I just recently purchased with a boat. I took the boat out and it ran terrible. Would not rev up. So I started checkin the fuel system & Carb's. The Carb's were terrible. Looked like someone ran wet sawdust through them. Hopefully that will do the trick. I have not tested the oil injection system, but would feel better if I just disconnected it and mixed the oil fuel ratio (50:1) myself. Does anyone have the step by step process that I need to perform to complete this task. I have pulled the sensor out of the oil resevoir, pulled the hose line off on the oil resevoir, & removed the tank from the engine mount. What else do I need to do. Thanks for all of your help. Suzuki oiling systems are extremely reliable. Your issues with the carbs are not the result of the oiling system. The oil is injected into the manifold after the carbs.
Bad fuel, not using Stabil and not servicing carbs regularly results in poor performance and blown motors.
If you insist on removing the oiling system then the power head will have to be removed to pull the drive out of the pump. If this is not done the the drive will seize thru lack of lubrication and you will have a mess inside the crankcase.
The lubrication system can be checked but you need to follow the procedure in the manual.

Thanks for the reply James R. After reading further forum related issues I come to the decision that the advice to rely on the oil injection system is the way to go. I put all of it back together again tonight. Thanks again.

I was told the same thing that yamaha oil injection is very reliable. This weekend I siezed the motor and ruined a piston because the oil injection stopped working for some reason. Everything checks out but for some reason it stopped working. I will NEVER trust oil injection on any outboard again. I know a few others that had the same thing happen to them. Mix it and forget it.

if properly maintained, these oil injection systems are very reliable.

if there was every moisture/water in the system, it would be best to go through all the lines, clean them out and re-bleed. not a big deal.
the oil filter gunk can be cleaned out with carb cleaner.

I agree that total reliance on the oil injection is only asking for trouble eventually. I blew my 87 DT150 SS and it was running perfectly, when it threw a rod and burned a piston on same cylinder. I believe it was oil injection failure that caused the whole problem. I do know that there are other possibilities, such as bad gas, or dirty carb jet leaning out mixture on that cylinder. But I'm basing my belief on the fact that there was very little oil used from the mark I made at the start of our day on the lake. I think in the future, mixing gas is just good ole insurance. So like the other guy said, mix it and forget it.
