How to do seats

I will post pics of this project 79' glastron ssv-176 probably 2morrow. I need seats done and of course some interior panels done. Me and the family are going to do this. The main seats are from my old boat(reupholstered 2 years ago) and of course fold down to lounges, but the front and rear seating needs, well seats. The front(bow?) are existing and will use as template, they just rest in place, no hinges or screwed down. But the rear seating that covers the fuel tank has got me puzzled since there are none now. The bottom seems easy enough: i cut and treat some wood to fit the area, pad and cover, install hinge, VIOLA. Question with the seatbacks is this: how the hell do you upholster and THEN secure them to the boat? Do you screw them down from the backside into the seat?? I dunno, I'm missing something here. Sounds like a stupid question, but I honestly cannot see how to do this. The upholstered rails at the floor make easy enough sense, screw down with upholstery buttons.
TIA for any input.

Our last boat had my head scratching too. I was wanting to recover the front bow cushions along the sides, after alot of pulling and tugging and climbing all over, come to find out you had to split the top cap from the hull to remove them  Great engineering eh?

Hopefully you can get to where you can screw them in from the backside or use some heavy-duty button snaps to hold them on.

On my old boat I built the seat backs and then got some screw covers that you put the screw through -- then screw them through the seat back and into the fiberglass... Make sure not to go to far so they don't pull through the cover... Then you fold the screw cap over and snap it down.

I got them from Lowe's. They had white, black, grey and tan.

The boat I am building now I am going to attach them while I have the cap off the way it was originally. Sucks but it is the only way to do it right.

I like the velcro idea, no holes and it can easily be removed if needed.
