How to drain gas from boat for shipment?

This seems to be a basic procedure but I am not to sure how to do it. I purchased a siphon (cheap) and tried it. I pushed the tube down as far as I could and I never hit gas. Where is all the gas? How long a tube do I need? Can I get to the gas any other way? The boat is being shipped and I want to lighten the load. Thanks

Welcome scout5 to the forums.

I have one of those cheap siphon hoses and a lot of the time it just loops back into a coil in the tank so the end isn't in the fuel. How long a hose you'll need will depend on the boat. I ended up draining my tank with the primer bulb.
