I just purchased a center console that has a large aluminum tank under the console and it has some old premix in it. What is the best way to siphon this out? I can see the entire hose that runs from the opening on the side of the console and I can see where the line comes out of the top to go to the engine. What would be the best way to get it out? Thanks in advance

Easiest way is to get a fuel pump and hook it to the hose and viola.

any idea how much fuel is in the tank?

The only kind of little pump I have is one the pump hand siphons. Will this work ok?

yup, raise the bow as high as you can to get the most gas out.

Yep it will work and you will look like Popeye after you are done so go chase some women after you are done!

seriously yes it will work, kick her bow up and go to town, won't be fun but better then spending money on it.

And better than driving 20 minutes one way to town just to pick up something else

If you have an outboard, disconnect the primer bulb from the section of hose running to the motor replace it with a 3' piece of clear plastic tubing. Stick plastic tubing thru the drains in your splash well and use the primer bulb to start the flow.

Here is how i did the one i needed to drain. Use a air compressor and put pressure in the vent line from the tank with the fuel line off of the engine . The pressure in the tank will make the fuel come out the line you took of of the engine. Hope this helps.

be VERY VERY cautious here.... as little as 3 psi or less can damage a fuel tank (which COULD even have deadly consequences)....... I'm not saying it CAN'T be done but this is a risky endeavor.

example fuel tank measures 20"x40"x 6" .... On the 20"x40" surface there are 800 square inches and a 3 psi (pounds per square inch) you have 2400 lbs of pressure acting on just that one surface. Add that to the pressures on all of the surfaces and you can see there is a huge destructive force....

Be aware to that there is likely to be an anti siphon valve in the fuel pickup which would make siphoning impossible.... If you have access to the tank you can usually unscrew the pickup and insert a fuel hose through that hole to siphon fuel.... Then run that hose through the bilge drain

Also there is usually a valve in the fuel fitting that connects to an outboard to stop fuel from flowing when not connected to the motor.

AS said above you only put enough pressure for the fuel to start running. Keep the pressure low just what you need to keep fuel running. The vent line should be some were on the side of the boat up high. Sorry i did not stress using low pressure.

I used the priming bulb idea first. I jacked the bow way up with a big farm jack and pumped it several times and she is draining as we speak. About 6 gallons out so far
