My buddy and I are in the process of doing some modifications on our 1982 Blue Fin boat. The interior is faded and orange. We are looking to upgrade the interior, is there a way to dye the fabric in the interior of the boat??? If so, what kind of dye should we use? Does anyone have any links? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Do a search for spray dyes. VHT makes a fabric and carpet dye for cars. Comes in a spray can. I have never used it but see if there are any reviews.

If you only want a few years out of it spray dyes are ok. They do peel sooner or later.

Here's a few pics of some seats I used vinyl paint on. The pic of the whole boat is when I first got it. If you zoom in you can see they were turquoise. I taped off everything with bullfrog tape and took my time. They came out alot better than I thought they would. Preperation is the key, they make a cleaner that I would suggest to use.
I bought it from a local upholstery wholesaler. Larry Dennis Company in Ftw tX

I have some spray left but its at the boat/marina. They do carry it you may have to call for the different brands. Not sure when I'll be back out there but I'll grab the name then. It has wore a bit in traffic areas so I touch it up as needed. I know Pep boys carries some, not sure on the variaty.

Typically you cannot dye any fabric that is not a natural fiber ie, cotton, linen, silk, etc. If you fabric contains any types of nylons, olefins, polyesters (which imo most do) the dye will not cover completely and come out blotchy. You'll probably have to recover those items with new fabrics. And, when you do recover, you'll want to utilize a fabric made from olefins, polyester or nylons because they will wear longer and last with the sun and water.

The spray dyes I have used for fabrics do not like weather. They turn brown in the sun. Red, black, gray they just dont seem to hold up. However if there is a great product that will not come off or fade out Im all ears.
